John Leggott College are celebrating another great year for A Levels results, surpassing last year’s achievements and thereby setting a new record for the college. The A Level pass rate of 99%, with 46% of grades at the A*-B top grade level, is a remarkable achievement for an open access college serving such a diverse community.
This year’s results were characterised by continued remarkable performance in the college’s two largest curriculum areas, science & mathematics and visual & performing arts. In both chemistry and mathematics, close to two thirds of students achieved A*-B grades, with excellent results also recorded in physics, design technology, electronics, biology and psychology. In arts subjects, graphics and performing arts led the way. In graphics, 92% of students achieved an A*-B grade, whilst in performing arts 100% of grades were at that level.
There has been a similar increase in achievements at AS Level, including for high grades increasing from last year to 41%, which will be a powerful boost for students seeking to secure university offers in the new term. The rate at which students successfully complete courses during their first year at college is exceptionally higher than the national average.
Results for the college’s international students, who do not contribute to the college’s national ranking data, were once again exceptional. One in five grades were at the very highest A* peak, with 73% of grades at A*-B.
College Principal, David Vasse, who is leaving this summer to take up a new post in London, said, “First and foremost, I am exceptionally proud of our students and staff. Together, we have built a college that now consistently delivers exceptionally good results and is rightly established as a national leader in education. The college is served by relentlessly hardworking and inspiring individuals. Long may this unique culture be preserved for future generations in the Humber, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire area.”
The college look forward to enrolling the next cohort of students from 30th August for a September 12th start. Applicants have been invited to attend the college at a specific time to enrol on their chosen course.
